I connected my laptop to my monitor with a vga cable (since thats the only connector that the laptop has), but for some reason, sound is not coming out of the monitor. how should i fix this? i know that the speakers work, since i once got sound out of them, but have never used the speakers since

Unless you threw it out or misplaced it that monitor should have come with an audio cable, you have to use it connected to the monitor and the headphone/speaker jack on the laptop to get sound on the monitor. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Me OS Win 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Phenom II x4 955 @ 4 GHz. No the audio cable is required whether you connect it via DVI or VGA as neither of those can send audio. The only way to get audio to that monitor without it is to use HDMI, and then the HDMI port from the video card has to be able to send audio.
When that cable is connected it should have auto switched to the headphone/speaker jack from the laptops internal speakers, but it doesn't always work as planned. Double check the audio settings and make that it is switched to headphones/speakers and not still on the laptop's own speakers. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Me OS Win 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Phenom II x4 955 @ 4 GHz. I still have a slight problem: the sound coming from the monitor is very low, even though everything is at max, but on my laptop, the sound is very loud. Would this be a sound card/speaker difference? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Built, Lenovo T410 OS 7 Ultimate x64, Windows 7 Enterprise x64 CPU Intel Q6600 @ 3.33 GHz, Intel i5 @ 2.53 GHz Motherboard ASUS P5Q Pro, Lenovo 2522DY1 Memory OCZ Gold 800 4GB, Some sort of RAM 4GB Graphics Card GeForce GT240, NVIDA NVS 3100M Monitor(s) Displays H213H Screen Resolution 1900 x 1080, 1440 x 900 Mouse Logitec G9x, Ultranav PSU ISO-450 Case Sunbeam ACIII-T Transparent Clear Acrylic ATX Mid Tower Cooling Spin Q Hard Drives Seagate 2 Tb

Well, if the notebook speakers plays it loud, but your monitor will not amplify it more, then you are probably out of luck. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number BrightWorks Systems B4 OS Windows 7 Profession 64-bit CPU Intel Core i7-860 Quad Motherboard Gigabyte P55-UD4P Memory Mushkin 4x2Gb PC12800 Graphics Card Gigabyte GTX260 896Mb Sound Card Integrated 7.1 HD Dolby Monitor(s) Displays 2 Samsung 2220wm-HAS 22" Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 | 1680 x 1050 Keyboard MS Wireless Comfort 5000 Mouse MS Wireless 5000 PSU Corsair TX-750W Case Ultra M998 Cooling OEM Hard Drives WD HE 1Tb Internet Speed Cable and pretty darn fast | How do you get sound to come out of second monitor? | All times are GMT -5.
