ok so this is driving me crazy! i recently upgraded to windows 7 and the only sound device my computer is recognizing is the spd/if output. speakers or headphones will not show up in the list.
Motherboard: ASUS P5VDC-X
i have downloaded the latest realtek
drivers (2.52) but rebooting after install shows no change. the realtek manager does not load, and the
driver continues to be the old microsoft high definition driver from 2009. i have noticed when installing the realtek drivers that it is copying information to c:/program files (x86)/realtek/audio/driver/vista64 HOWEVER when installation is complete, when i go to check the files that were just installed, the folder is gone! even after reboot the folder is not there. i let it install with the realtek/audio/driver fold open, watched as "vista64" appeared while files were being copied, then disappear after install is complete.
i think the disappearing of the folder is why this will not install properly but i can not for the life of me figure out wtf is going on. i have tried installing in several different compatibility modes to no success.
does anyone have any ideas on how i can fix this problem?
EDIT: nevermind! figured it out.
