    sound driver issues

I don't know exactly why or how, but I've had my sound driver suddenly stop working a couple of times over the past week...and I think this is related to my ongoing microphone issues.

problem is, I've already re-installed the sound driver for my laptop...3 times...hasn't fixed the issue.

any insight would be a great help in narrowing down my options for fixing this.

    thanks in advance.

Take a look in your Device Manager and see if there are any yellow warnings.

Reboot your computer into safe mode and totally uninstall your sound driver. Then install the newest driver.

    **EDIT**

Also, I'd like you to flash your bios to 2010-05-25 , Version:F.15,

    ok, first thing's first.

tried the safe mode uninstall / reinstall, that makes 4 times with no change, still no response from either internal or external mics.

um....just being cautious, but why suggest a BIOS reflash?

Well it's fairly recent, and may be part of the equation for sound and microphone issues.

Did you check your Device Manager?

device manager showed no issues, but the BIOS update DID fix the mic. it's working fine now.

    thanks a bundle. ^_^

EDIT: whoops, when I checked in safe mode, the device manager was complaining about missing drivers. forgot about that. still problem finally solved
