Getting mic inout to show up in the stereo mixer

I'm using CamStudio to record online conferences, and I need to be able to record the audio not only from the speakers but from my microphone as well. I've done everything that the CamStudio gurus and forums have advised, and watched numerous videos on YouTube with directions on how to get the microphone input to be included into the stereo mixer. So far no luck.

(FYI - Gateway desktop computer running Windows 7 Home Premium, with a Realtek soundcard. Only 3 months old.)

With the Recording Devices window open, when I speak into the microphone I see the green bars to the right of the microphone icon going up and down normally. When I play videos or anything on the computer that generates sound through the speakers, I see the green bars going up and down to the right of the stereo mixer icon. If I'm speaking into the microphone and playing a video on the screen at the same time, I see the green bars going up and down to the right of both of the icons, but the volume indicated for each is only for the input as described above: In other words I'm seeing the volume indicator for the microphone strictly for what I'm inputting into the microphone, and the volume indicator for the stereo mixer is strictly for the sound coming from the on-screen videos.

In all of the YouTube videos that I watched giving instructions on how to record both the microphone input and the speaker input through the stereo mixer, I noticed that when the instructors were speaking in the YouTube videos, that the input from their microphone was also showing up in the stereo mixer volume. Even when there was no video or anything else generating sound through their computers speakers, when they were speaking into their microphones I could see the volume for the input from the microphone showing up identically to the right of the microphone icon as well as the right of the stereo mixer icon.

I've tried every permutation of settings that I can think of to try to get the microphone input to show up in the stereo mixer volume. If anybody has a solution as to how I can get the microphone input to be included in the stereo mixer, I'd be very grateful.

Thank you very much.

Right click on the MS speaker icon in the task bar, select recording devices, single left click the Mic Input then select the properties button on the lower right... go to the listen tab and select listen to this device.
