Windows Media Player is just a tool to view all of your stored music, and if you choose to let it do so, it will organize your library as well. All the MP3 files are still just on your hard disk, wherever you saved them to.

Some other programs to view, edit, and play your music are available:

iTunes
WinAmp
RealPlayer

dont worry ,your music is saved/stored on your computer, the software just accesses it and plays it for you.there are lots of posts here on sevenforums about which is the best media player i would reccomend Mediamonkey
heres a review: MediaMonkey MediaMonkey 3 review - IT Reviews

and heres a download from the mediamonkey site: MediaMonkey Free Media Jukebox, Music Manager, CD Ripper & Converter

If you are a serious music user have a look at media monkey

MediaMonkey Free Media Jukebox, Music Manager, CD Ripper & Converter

the gold version does cost but the free version has more options than most others paid or free

Make sure you dont download illegally hosted mp3's, otherwise that "store" wont last long. I hope you've heard of Jammie Thomas.

Well said.

That aside, did you know that Amazon.com has over 2000 free songs?

I keep all my mp3 files ( Backup of my Ipod tunes made from over 100 CD's I own ) stored on an external drive in case I accidentally sync my Ipod and end up with Zero songs or need to format
