Suddenly sound gone from laptop o.o

I have no idea whats happened, but sound just gone from my laptop, it happened first time to me after i turned off laptop and turned on few hours later.
Most interesting that i still see the sound bar jumping in windows volume controller


so its seems windows thinks that sound works just fine, while i play mp3 file, windows gives no erros at all. I also use SRS WOW HD sound filter, witch one also shows jumping bars


and the drivers seems, ok, no errors at all



what could be possibly wrong? idk what to try to do :/

the first thing i would check is to see if anything is muted. right-click the speaker icon next to the clock and select "open volume mixer".
if that doesnt solve the problem, right-click the icon again and select "playback devices" and make sure the correct device is set as default.
most laptops have hotkeys to turn devices on and off. make sure you didnt inadvertantly press one.
if you use external speakers, disconnect the power for about 15 minutes. and also make sure they are plugged in to the correct port on the laptop.

there is nothing muted :/ i tryd changing default playback devices, nothing happens, no sound. i reinstalled also soundcard driver witch is soundmax integrated digital audio, still no sound. and there is no volume buttons on my laptop at all. creepe eh? and i dont use external speackers now.

Since this "just happened", use the System Restore function and restore the PC back to a date when it did work. System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools. System Restore will not delete any user data or e-mails, but any programs installed (or uninstalled) will have to be redone.

good point but... unfortenatly in windows 7 my system restore kinda loves to delete restore points itself... idk y this happens... but if i set restore point.. after 12 hours or so its GONE... and list of points becomes empty. now there is one point, it was set automaticly when i tryd reinstall driver few times. but unfortenatly there is no restore point from that past when it all worked.

It sounds like the maximum disk space you are allowing is too small for System Restore.
Click on the Help and Support and then search for "System Restore" one of the results will be "How much disk space does System Restore require?" Click on that and it will show you how to set/change the disc space allowed. If you don't have enough disc space on the current hard drive you are in deep trouble and need to upgrade to a larger hard drive.

i tought it allocates my selected hard disk pace to system restore? well in windows xp i used to keep 1% so it was ok for 2 restore points. i dont need more, its ok since it takes automatic points just in 2-4days. well, i hope it works same way on 7. i allocated 2%. and it should now make list empty, it suppose to replace other point by new, but somehow it goes empty.

anyway, now please lets get back to the sound problem. i browse internet all day for solution, i found wery similar threads in other forum, it happened few guys identical same thing with toshiba, hp, and dell.. thread not solved so far. i searched for sound options in bios but u know, HP bios is very limited for custom options, so i was unable to find any sound options.
and system restore wouldint solve here anything i think, i read that these guys tryed and still no sound to them laptops.

UPDATE: i just got some headphones to test and, there is sound in headphones!! but no sound in build in laptop speackers. im traveling and only at home i use external speackers, so u get me guys.. please help to fix this.

check device manager to make sure all audio devices are working. how long have you used SRS? you might try uninstalling/reinstalling that program.

if possible, fill in your system specs.

ty, but im 100% sure that SRS WOW has nothing to do with it. And if i try reinstall, i may get big problems with license, cause its app by pay. And I used srs like 3 years on XP and newer had any problems with it. And i can set my soundmax soundcard as default device and push test buton - no sound. (SRS virtual sound card is my default device).
And as i said, it works fine with external speakers, like nothing happened. Just no sound on internal ones. Maybe hardware fail? :/
