Can my sound card make 5.1 speakers work?

    Hi,
I'd like to buy a set of 5.1 surround speakers, but I don't know wether my sound card is able to make 5.1 speakers work, and I can't seem to find the answer by googling...
So, I used Everest to identify my sound car : it seems I've got two :

then I went to the Settings Panel, and Realtek won't let me choose Surroun instead of Stereo :

so I went to the sound settings and got this, which seems to indicate my Nvidia sound card isn't activated?! :

So, my question is : does my sound card have the ability to make 5.1 speakers work, and if yes, how should I proceed?

    Thank you for your help

I've just installed Speccy, what do you want to know? There's a huge lot of information there, I can't just dump it all on the forum^^
As for connections on the pc, I've got a few usb connections, an e-sata one, and an hdmi connection too (yeaah I'd never spotted that one before, it could come handy... but what is hdmi for, exactly? I'm sorry, I'm a complete beginner in sound...)
    Thanks for your help

@PooMan : I've tried that, but the only option there is Stereo

you are using a notebook not a desktop so my guess you only have a 3.5 connector as output?
