Volume at MAXIMUM on startup

Hello all, first post here (of many probably, heh).

Whenever I startup into W7 my volume is always at maximum, anyone else encountered this? I did a quick search but only founf issues related to low volume, 50% volume and sound card driver issues etc... I would love to here your thoughts on my maximum volume issue, cheers

RESOLVED: installed BETA driver & CCL posted below by bansh (must have both installed)

Id say check what level your volume is at when you shutdown/restart your computer, and see if it boots to the same level or to 50%, second, make sure your sound drivers are up to date.

You have a clean install of your Win 7 version or you updated once or several times?

I adjust the volume after I hear the logon sound and have it around 30-40% from then until I shutdown. This is from a fresh install of Windows 7 build 7100 32 bit on a clean HDD, not upgraded, I never used the BETA.

My soundcard is an X-Fi Xtreme Music which I know have caused issues but playing music/games etc it is fine, just the initial volume is maxed.

Ok, i have exactly the same sound card. No problems for me
Is any other sound scheme saved for you after you were rebooting? Maybe just disable the logong sound and try again?

Going now to make some tests in case of your problem. maybe i can reproduce the problem.

What driver are you using? And what Creative Console Version?

Waiting for response, so i can try to make more suggestions

Almost sounds like the driver is getting installed every time you start the computer, as at least for me that is the only time I get what you are describing (87% actually, what made them pick that level is anyone's guess). Another guess is that there is something else running/loading that is returning your computer to the same state it was when you installed the X-Fi drivers.

Thought of that but it doesn't really solve the problem, actually I might forget to lower the volume and kill my ears with music when I start up Winamp hehhe

I installed the driver only for my sound card, the driver CD didn't load but I think I found a driver through these forums and installed it, even though I think it did not include support for the Xtreme Music card.

Or if you want a few more of the things back that used to work in XP (Volume panel, THX Console, etc),

SB X-Fi Series Support Pack 2.0 (05/15/2009) - Sound Blaster - Creative Labs
