Windows 7: No sound card detected after instaling win7 x64 after having XP x32

The card is an Aureal Audio Vortex 8830. It worked without drivers on my win XP. I have installed 7 on another partion without uninstalling XP. I have run the "detct and solve problems" in the device manager, but first it was unable to find any problems, then it said that the problem lays in the away mode of my computer. It said to disable the away mode system in the bios of my computer. I have looked through my bios but i havent found anything to do with away mode. A small bios actually. I already have read about turning off the away mode in XP, but it didnt do a thing. I have a Home Premium system on another computer, and it works just fine, i didnt need to download any new drivers for the cards. It is a bit urgent, so any help is apreaciated.

As far as a 64 bit driver for that sound card, forget it as it just isn't going to happen. You have to remember that Aureal went out of business before XP came out, so the chances of finding a driver are precisely zero.

From what I can see that fact that it worked with XP without a driver was probably more by good luck than good management (and from a few things I saw it had problems there as well), and from looking here,

there was one beta driver that came out for XP which is probably what the one that kword88 linked to is based on. Unfortunately it will be a 32 bit driver and will not work in 64 bit Windows.

so, no chances for sound on this OS with this card? Aww. I switched to the Aureal from an ancient computer, when my integreated card smoked up. Isnt there like a universal driver for sound? And what is with the away thing that Windows 7 talks about? Why does it see it as a problem?
