No audio in recorded or live TV

I have the gateway SX2850, Home Premium 64 bit, with a Homerun ATSC dual tuner. The audio is fine for any programs streaming online, but I cannot get audio on live or recorded TV. This happened suddenly. I watched a recorded show and it was fine. I tried to watch the same recording a second time and there is no audio. I must have done something, but I can't figure out what (I'm new to this). I ran the audio diagnostic/fix program, but it did not help. I do get Win 7 audio, just not when I try to watch recorded or live TV.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Related note, I also have Win 7 with a Hauppage 850. I get Video just fine but no audio. Already redid my Win 7 box once. Works and then boom, after a while it stops working. I'm thinking it has to be a microsoft patch that does this thing in.

How is the live/recorded TV video quality?
I'm considering re-purposing my rig and making it a DVR/HTPC. Yes, it's a little overpowered but I'm getting disenchanted with gaming and figured I'd get better use of it this way. I plan on getting the Ceton InfiniTV4 for my tuner and keeping the GTX470 for the output card. As the subject...

Low recorded audio from microphone
Good morning, I have an audio recording issue and I will try to explain it as best I can. When I record with a microphone, the recorded audio plays back very low. I have gone through the settings for hours on end and can find no cause. I have the microphone gain at 100% and the boost at +30. ...

Recorded TV or Live TV over Network

live/recorded tv won't play
i posted this in a couple other HTPC forums with no luck, so i thought it'd throw it out to the WMC experts here :) i was updating to the latest MPC-HC player from here: Media Player Classic HomeCinema (x86/x64), 1.4.2616 - XvidVideo.RU and i noticed it had a big message: In order for the...

Geez HTPC's can be bloody frustrating. Whilst i don't regret not getting a single box solution (already have 2 others - PS3 and Popcorn Hour), i didn't think it would be this hard to get something that works reliably. Specs of rig are: Gigabyte 785GPM - UD2h motherboard AMD 250 4 gb Ram WD...
