| Windows 7: No audio--Realtek and 7 |

No audio--Realtek and 7 I've been at this most of the evening, reading posts and trying to figure it out on my own, to no avail. Just built a new pc with Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 mobo with onboard Realtek HD Audio. I'm running windows 7 Home Premium 64 and getting no sound at all. Tried the latest driver, and not so latest. I've got the current one now R2.55 and 6.0.1.6257.
All my junk is plugged in and reading correctly, that is my system sees it. The audio 'appears to process' with the dancing green bars and whatnot. My volume is maxed in both the HD Audio manager and Windows volume control. No mutes there. I have green checkmarks where they're supposed to be, and have both tried my speakers on another rig as well as tried my rig on other speakers. Headphones do not work either, but the jack will register when I add/remove. Have 5.1 set up, all the panel slots set up correctly. Think that's about it.
Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope | My System Specs |

Where are you getting your Realtek drivers? I would start by getting them from the ASUS website downloads for your mobo and see if this resolves your issue, post back with your results. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number DELL XPS Studio 435T OS Vista 64 Ultimate, Windows 7 64 Ultimate, Ubuntu 9.10 CPU i7 975 3.3 GHz Extreme (Factory OC'd to 3.6 GHz) Motherboard DELL provided Memory 18 Gb Tri-Channel 1066 Graphics Card ATI 5970 2048 Mb Sound Card X-Fi Extreme Gamer Monitor(s) Displays Vizio 37" HD-TV Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech Performance K350 Wireless Mouse Logitech Performance MX Wireless PSU DELL Provided 475 watts Case DELL Cooling 3 fans Hard Drives 1.5 Tb HDD

Firstly, thanks for replying.
Yep, I have the "speakers" enabled and defaulted throughout.
Firstly I fetched the drivers from the Realtek website. I just jogged over to Asus and tried those out. Unfortunately they yielded no results. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor 3.20 GHz Motherboard ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 Memory 4.00 GB Graphics Card GeForce 8800 GTS 512 Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays Acer AL2216W |

Just grasping at straws here, but:
What is Device Manager showing? Any nasty yellow triangles? Any red X's?
Have you tried changing your speaker configuration settings from 5.1 to something else?
What type of sound files are you trying to play? Do you have all the required Codecs? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number OEM - Me OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1600T Motherboard GigaByte GZ-990FXA-UD3 Memory 16GB PC3-10700 (1342MHz) Graphics Card ATI Radeon 5770 HD (x2) CrossFire Sound Card On-board RealTek chipset Monitor(s) Displays 3x Hanns-G 1920x1080 Monitors Screen Resolution 3x Hanns-G 1920x1080 Monitors Keyboard HP USB Mouse LogiTech USB PSU OCZ Stealth X Stream 750W Case Cheap (unknown) Cooling Stock Hard Drives Intel 25-V SSD 40GB: 218 MB/s AT: 0.1ms

Device manager looks good, no triangles or x's. Just tried switching my speaker config to the other settings, nothing there. As far as sound files go, to determine if I have sound I crank the speakers up, test in Realtek manager and usually have an mp3 looping in the background via winamp. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor 3.20 GHz Motherboard ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 Memory 4.00 GB Graphics Card GeForce 8800 GTS 512 Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays Acer AL2216W |

Well, I'm at a loss.
Sorry I didn't help.
There are a lot of people here a lot smarter than I am, so hang in there. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number OEM - Me OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1600T Motherboard GigaByte GZ-990FXA-UD3 Memory 16GB PC3-10700 (1342MHz) Graphics Card ATI Radeon 5770 HD (x2) CrossFire Sound Card On-board RealTek chipset Monitor(s) Displays 3x Hanns-G 1920x1080 Monitors Screen Resolution 3x Hanns-G 1920x1080 Monitors Keyboard HP USB Mouse LogiTech USB PSU OCZ Stealth X Stream 750W Case Cheap (unknown) Cooling Stock Hard Drives Intel 25-V SSD 40GB: 218 MB/s AT: 0.1ms
