    How To Restart Audiodg.exe

    Hey everyone,

I do a lot of online gaming and audiodg.exe (the file that enables you to hear sound on Windows) was causing MAJOR lag. I actually went ahead and deleted that file, rendering my computer soundless.

I got a brand new speaker system for my computer, it's hooked up and ready to go, but I can't use it because I deleted that file! Does anyone know how to restore audiodg.exe? I remember I found the solution way back but didn't write it down

Hi Jrad09, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Because audiodg.exe belongs to Windows 7 system files, Windows should be able to repair it with Windows System File Checker (sfc). If you are not familiar with sfc, read this tutorial: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

I tried scf, and I got an error "You must be an administrator running a console session in order to use the sfc utility"

I know there's another way to fix this - I remember going into the Control Panel, and there was an option in there where it had a list of ALL the programs and everything, you could right click and press 'restart' or 'reinstall' or 'restore'.. but I can't find that solution now

You must run command prompt as administrator. Click Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories, right click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Run then sfc /scannow.
