Windows 7: Wont change from speakers to headphones

So I installed Windows 7 RC1 (build 7100) x64 and just wondering when I change the speaker setting in my Creative Audio Control Panel to headphones should it be changing what I see on the speaker icon on the taskbar, As it the audio output always remains as speakers.
Im using XtremeGamer with Beta Drivers 2.18.0013.
When I was using XP when I changed from speakers to headphones it would change what is in the windows control panel / sound settings. Does this happen in Windows 7? or will changing it through Creative Audio Control Panel do it just not changing the output device name?
And another thing even when I change it to headphones, when I load cs:source up the audio device is set as 2 speakers, so I'm not sure if the output device is changing.

First welcome to sevenforums. Keep asking questions the people here are friendly and we all learn from solving problems. You described the situation perfectly. Just remember that 7100 is a release candidate and in the end it might be different. I dont know if there is a "headphone" icon in win 7 I just know that my Creative audio doesn't change to headphones either but works perfectly. It may not be an issue. oes the software work correctly? On another matter we could help you more quickly if you filled out the "my system specs" in control panel

Ok system specs filled out.
Everything seems to be working except for the thing in cs, which makes me wonder if its doing the same in every game.
