It's been a couple months since this started happening. I hear crackling/static-like noises coming from my laptop's speakers whenever sound is playing. Lately, I noticed it only happens when my CPU usage is high (at least ~70%). I hear it mostly while playing videos or even when Windows starts up. I tried reinstalling my sound driver (Conexant HD SmartAudio 221), which didn't fix the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
There is a ton of posts on here (and other forums) about the noise problems. Look over the posts here and the suggestions to see if anything will help.
I think the noise is there all the time you just hear it when it's louder. Probably 50 Hz-60 Hz "brum" type of noise, sound is very prone to electricity. Secondly cracking could be a result of circuit problem, but that could also cause volume jumping(happened in my case). Anyway as fireberd suggested search the forum you'll have a lot of companions.

Muting/unmuting the microphone didn't work.
But wow, I think I've fixed it! I feel really dumb now. I unplugged the AC adapter, plugged it back in, and the crackling seems to have gone away. What's the cause of this, and is there a fix?
Could be a bad AC receptacle. If it comes back try a different AC receptacle.
