    no more rehab...

After reading ignatzatsonics's input, I feel confident in saying that I'm giving up on rehab... where is my bottle of ludes... I'm going to join my old Vista OS in that big PC board in the sky... I think I still have my dealer's number.

Thanks ignatzatsonic... I'll resist reviewing your screen name.

First I will address the response from C3PO (aka p5bdkw)... I think Didi could be a whole new identity for me... I loved Didi Conn in Greese (what a hottie)... see your new photo, and mine, attached.

Har... Digi, what a great read, had me laughing out loud...

I did not know about the Aphelion/Webzine connection... I've been Ap for many, many years on several different boards... compared to perihelion, Aphelion puts me closer to the front of the line even though further from the sun.

p.s. Actually the Microsoft generic drivers are from Realtek.

    Ten four.

Didn't mean to bring you down.

I'll relay your concerns to Bill next time I have his ear.

I expect the situation to continue to deteriorate with future operating systems.

plenty of ludes and more material

    That's okay iggy,

Nothing could bring me down now after 15 quaaludes... where are my keys?

And thanks Ap... if you want to hear more of the stand-up act, I'll be here all week, but my afternoon show isn't as good as the late night one.

For more new material, and some of the same, jump to the end of this thread on the Audacity Forum... talk about dry stiffs writing to a crazy person... "www.dry stiffs writing to a crazy person.com"

    ciao,

    Digi,

    Sorry about the Didi.
The old eyes aren't what they used to be.

Have you considered doing a clean install of the OS?

    huh?

    p5bdkw,

What for?... maybe you can review this thread of all of our exchanges from today and yesterday, following my original post.

My W7ULT full-clean installation was just done in October.

Did you forget to take your pills today?

There's so much to read, that I don't read everything.
I must admit that I skim through some of the longer posts. Shame on me!!

    Digidoo~

    You mentioned this chipset...

"My computer is running on Windows 7 ULT and it has a Realtec ALC888 (7.1 Channel audio) sound card in it according to the Dell manual."

And you've tried the latest 2.56 version driver, and installed it twice? First time deletes the old drivers, or..... if you don't have the Realtek drivers installed I guess the first time installs them?

I'm running version 2.53 of the drivers and everything works perfectly so I'm loathe to upgrade. The Realtek install left the Windows driver in Device Manager, I disabled them without any problems.

    all this stuff

That's okay p5, I miss stuff too... just kidding, as usual.

Aph, after what I went through with the Realtek driver fiasco back in August, September and half of October, I wouldn't risk any driver replacements at this point for this audio recording thing... plus I figure even if it didn't eat my audio again, there would be some other reason why it wouldn't work... but thanks for the thought.

Did you guys get the link in the PM that I sent?

And MIKE!... your private messaging is blocked... is there a way to send you the video link that I was going to send to you?

    One more question?
Originally, did you use the Realtek driver from their site, the Dell site or elsewhere?
