Glitchy Sound

Lately, I have been having problems with my sound. It frequently becomes crackly for a second and then goes back to normal. I have tried Googling for answers, but to no avail. I recently upgraded from Vista x86 to 7 Pro x64, but that is not when the problem started. The problem started when I upgraded my Graphics card to the Asus ENGT430. It installed it's own sound drivers and that is when the problem started. I have tried uninstalling the drivers that it installed as well as trying to re-install the old driver (at least the best match I could find), but I haven't been able to fix the problem. The problem is really annoying me, and I would like to find a fix for it. If you have any ideas on what steps I might take to fix the problem, please let me know.

First let me say your post is a little confusing.
You say you are having trouble with sound and then go on about
graphics card.
(do not mean to be snotty it is just the way I write)
Graphics and sound are 2 diffrent things.
Have you updated you sound card? If you did
try to roll back to the early one.
Also unplug your speakers and plug them back in.
Some times that could be a promblem.

I was talking about the graphics card because that is when it started. It installed it own sound drivers (for HDMI, I believe). Those drivers were glitchy, and that is when my whole adventure began. Since then, I have tried to remove the drivers that the card installed, find my old driver and install the driver from the CDs that came with the computer.

Ok now I understand.
After you remove the driver boot the computer
into safe mode. Install the drivers that way
If you start the computer normally it will only
insall again.
Also try this thread Something is seriously jacked up with my video
Somebody mentions a program called driver sweeper to get a clean start.

Could you clarify which drivers I should try to install in Safe Mode? All of them?

The ones for the graphics card you said you had problems with.
After you are in safe mode put the driver disc into the disc drive.
do not let it insall. Go to device manger and find you graphics card.
It should have a yellow triangle next to it.
Click update. A box will appear asking to go online say no.
Find the drivers on computer.
Navigate to your CD drive and it will just insall what it needs no extras.
I am not a very good writer so I hope you understand.

I tried the safe mode method. It sounded promising at first, but the problems started up again. I will take a look at the Driver Sweeper.

Update: I just tried that Driver Sweeper. It did not come up with any sound-related drivers.

Norton360 UI is unresponsive and glitchy
My mom's Norton 360 Premier Edition program has recently started acting up.
