Dolby Bluray sound able to convert to 2 channel

    Hi All,

I've done a bit of research but can't find a specific fix for this.

I'm running sound from the mobo by spdif to a 2 channel dac, then analogue into my amp (which is 2 channel). I listen to stero mostly, and don't want surround sound. I get the sound issue when i'm unable to select a 2.1 channel option in the individual bluray's audio settings. If the blueray only has dolby, then i get a loud crackling buzz through the speakers.

I've tried adjusting the computer sound settings, but can't seem to find a way to get the computer to convert the Dolby into 2 channel. For Bluray i'm using PowerDVD8, have tried to find a setting in PDVD8, but no dice.

    Any suggestions?

    Much appreciated any help :)

    Cheers.

Performance is decreased but I believe Media Player Classic offers on the fly dts conversion to ac3, which will output to your computer's default sound setting. I haven't experimented with this a lot myself, primarily because mpc also likes to default to spanish language tracks for reasons I was never able to to resolve. Powerdvd 8 also has limited blu ray support all around. Powerdvd 10 is much more robust in it's support for blu ray. If upgrading is an option it will more than likely help with your problem as well.
