Windows 7 x64 All Sound Skipping

Hello, been a while since I posted here.
I've searched around on google and on these forums about sound skipping in windows 7; most results are for the end of songs skipping, but that is not my case. Every sound that plays, whether it be the logon chime, sound from games or music, you name it, it skips.
I don't know what might have changed in the last 72 hours, as this issue arised within that timeframe. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for my soundcard (Onboard SoundMAX something-rather).

    Specs:
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
    Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe WiFi/AP
    AMD Phenom x4 9950
    4GB Mushkin RAM
    1.2+TB of storage
    Logitech Z-2300 2.1 Speakers
    POS Ghetto Mic

I will do my best to provide any additional information that could help the diagnosis of this issue. Thanks in advance!

The second you mentioned this problem I knew you had a sound max that came bundled with an asus board. Had to actually go to soundmax for the update, asus didn't have anything post vista available.

I did a quick google search and found no exact website for soundmax. Could you post a link where I could search for these drivers?

I also read up on the soundmax driver download review on cnet.... complete pos from what I understand, and I'm not in any situation to say otherwise right now.

Edit: Latest drivers for my card did not fix the issue. Any other suggestions? Perhaps a new soundcard?

Edit 2: I just threw in a very old Sound Blaster Audigy 4 sound card, no problems other than having a few songs sound like they're trying to thrash out of the cones of my speakers..
