Microphone problems.

So yesterday while i was playing on my PS3 while talking on skype, i decide to go to the bathroom with my headset on to brush my teeth, so lalala in i go and when i lowered my head my mic fell out of my headset and into a (semi deep) pool of water for about 2 seconds, ever since then to even hear a slight noise from my microphone i have to shout into it as loud as i can (Not over exaggerating), i know it's my mic because when i plug my headphones (Yes my crap ass 1 headphones have the ability to be used a microphone, how i don't know) and talk into them i can hear myself, is their anyway i can boost the sound of the microphone so i don't have to shout?

PS: I can't send it because i've already sent it back once, i have a:

Sound Blaster World of Warcraft Headsets

I've tried un-installing and reinstalling the software, reseting the drivers bla bla bla and nothing seems to work

Don't you think perhaps you might have irreversibly damaged your headphones when they fell into the pool of water???????????
