    Microsoft sound drivers?

Recently I had sound problems which I think are now fixed (refer to Sound issue (Conexant sound driver) for more info)

What I did was i went to device manager, uninstalled the conexant high definition audio AND drivers, and restarted my computer with the hope that it would install some newer version drivers from conexant.

When I restarted, it started to download drivers, from microsoft instead of conexant. And was just wondering if this would affect my computer in any way (having microsoft sound drivers instead of conexant that came with the laptop). The conexant drivers supported dolby digital surround sound (built into my computer), and the microsoft doesn't but it has stopped my sound issue (as far as i know).

So my question, would my packard bell laptop be affected if it has microsoft sound drivers instead of conexant thta came with the computer. If not, where can I download microsoft drivers if I ever need to upgrade/reinstall them? And is there any way i can get microsoft drivcers that support dolby surround sound like my old conexant drivers? Here is my driver info:

    Hardware id's:

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5069&SUBSYS_1025042B&REV_1003
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5069&SUBSYS_1025042B

if anymore info is needed let me know

Nope, your LT will run fine with the MS drivers, but if you want full functionality check PB's site for the drivers for your laptop.

Although the MS drivers work OK with the PB, it's not always the case. I post this only in case someone with another model PC reads this. With Dell's, in most cases the Dell sound driver must be used for their Integrated Audio systems due to the Dell custom motherboards and implementations. If non Dell drivers are used either they will not work or not work correctly. We have many posts on the Dell users forum that confirms this.

MS does not make their own drivers. You might get some generic type vendor drivers in certain cases, but if you update through windows update and there are drivers available they are from Dell or Realtek or whoever, just with an MS badge, but yes in most cases if you want full functionality go to the vendor as I said in my first post.:)
