I'm not using a certain product, just plugged a mic into my pc and monitored it, and i get a nasty delay. I had the same problem with xp, but asio4all took care of it. Not the case with win 7. Just waiting for the fix for 7 so I can justify why it is that I prefer Pc to a Mac. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number compaq el437aa OS windows 7 32 CPU amd athlon 3400 Motherboard n1996 Memory 1.5 gig Graphics Card intergated ati radion express 200 Sound Card rocket fish 5.1 Monitor(s) Displays dell sony trinitron PSU 300 watt Case compaq presario Hard Drives 160 gig ide |

Uh.. well you need a sound system (with assiciated drivers) that is low latency. Most craptastic built-in audio chips are hardly usable for production level sound latencys between mic or midi input and audio output.
Maybe you will get lucky by getting the drivers for your sound chip off of the manufacturers website (For Windows 7 of course)
Otherwise, get something from Midiman though if you actually need like 2ms latency on your sound output... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Scratch built OS Windows 7 x64 Ultimate CPU i7 960 Motherboard Asus P6X58D Memory 12 Gig Corsair Dominator Graphics Card Nvidia 480 Sound Card Maudio Delta 44 + breakout box Monitor(s) Displays Dell UltraSharp U2410 24in and Samsung 21 dual monitors Screen Resolution 1920x1200 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitech G15 + N52 game pad Mouse Logitech MX518 PSU Corasair TX850 Case Cooler Master HAF Cooling Corsair H50 Hard Drives Primary: Intel X-25M G2 160G SSD

Doing a google search, there are several posts about problems or "not happy" withthe Rocketfish sound cards. Looking at the prices posted, many are under $10 which says it's not a "high end" sound card and thus can have problems including latency.
However, there can be other system (hardware) issues causing latency.
I won't get into the PC/MAC thing. But, I see a lot of complaints and problems with Mac's that are used for recording on the gearslutz forum, so it's not "problem free". | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built OS Windows 7, 64 bit Professional. Actually their sound cards are nothing more than a stripped down (components missing looking at it on their site) X-Fi Xtreme Audio.
You could try the latest Xtreme Audio driver or the one in this modded set, SB P17X Series Support Pack 2.7 (04/01/2010) - Aud... - Creative Labs
May find that neither will install though without adding the DevID to the INF. Here they are from the rocketfish version of the driver, Code: [Creative.NTX86.6]
