How to disable hp volume splash screen

This is kind of hard to describe but i have a photo of my issue, the links at the bottom, but whenever I push the volume buttons on my laptop this splash screen or this icon, or in other words the image of a speaker pops up shown in the image below i was wondering how do I disable this so that when I press the volume button the picture of the speaker does not come up on my screen

I believe you can disable or unninstall the HP MediaSmart SmartMenu but I'm not sure what other functionality you lose ?

that sounds like it could be controlled by the HP On-Screen Cap/Num/Scroll Lock Indicator ?

If so I believe you can unninstall it in the control panel Programs And Features utility

or you could untick it as a running process on startup in msconfig , look for LchDrvKey

I have some customers moan about this and question its usefulness ?

let us know how you get on ?
