    Can't display Sound "Volume" icon?

I can't see the volume adjust button on the bottom of the screen (laptop). I check the system on/off for Time, volume, network, etc... and the volume one is dim (can't change from off to on). What I need to do to turn the volume on so I can adjust the sound.

    Thanks,

Make sure whether you have sound drivers installed or not.

The sound come out the speaker without any problem and I can adjust with fn-f11 or fn-f12. The problem is the volume icon can't display on the task bar.

go to control panel>all control panel items>notification area icons>system icons & restore default icon behaviors.

I already check on this but the volume icon on the notification area is dim (can't turn). Even I choose the restore default icon behaviors but the Volume icon still can't turn on.

Same problem, applied win7 "quickpatch" from Microsoft, effect: disaster all icons vanished, all notification area icon checkboxes now BLACK! Tried Restore to last remembered working icons. Success.

I was having that same problem and I logged off and then back on and it was there again. Try that.
