Mind boggling audio cracking
Hey guys, so I built this system last week and I've been noticing a subtle intermittent crackish poppish noise (every 30 seconds to 1 minute) during music or videos. At first it was something I let slide, but at this point it's really annoying and needs to be fixed. I've already tried every combination of drivers/software/hardware I could think of, but the noise still occurs. The strangest thing is the cracking noise occurs both with onboard as well as my USB sound card with onboard disabled from BIOS. Here's some of the different combos I've tried:
Drivers: Default drivers (Realtek uninstalled)/Realtek drivers from motherboard website/Realtek drivers from official website
Sound card: Onboard/optical to external sound card/USB to external soundcard
As you can see, I've exhausted all the basic tests trying to isolate what's causing this. I've also ran the DPC latency check and know this is not an issue with CPU lagging. In addition, I've tested my audio setup on my 4 year old laptop and it sounds fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm running out of ideas.
Update: After reading up to page 33 of that 55 page thread, I finally found a solution that worked: Disabling the Realtek Ethernet NIC. Hopefully I'll never have to use an ethernet cable ever again. Sorry for creating a useless thread, mods can delete or close
