Bit Rate in HD Audio Device

I'm running asio4all as my audio driver when working on music projects (ableton live) but I noticed that the High Definition Audio Device listed in asio4all says that it is running at 24 bits. I only really need 16 bits and would imagine that running it at 24 bits is just going to add to my cpu overhead.

Is there a way to change it? I've looked through the audio settings for the device but there's no option to change the bit rate.

There should be a setting for it. I know for sure there is a setting for that within Realtek HD Audio, if that is what you are using??

I'm not sure what I'm using, the only information about it that I can find is Microsoft High Definition Audio Device.

I found the Default Format but it says that it is when it is running in shared mode and asio4all should take exclusive control as far as I know.

edit, i should be clearer. The default format says 16 bit 44.1k but when I look at it in asio4all it says 24 bits. Maybe this is because you can only set the sharing mode?

Would probably help if you installed the driver for the onboard audio as the default Windows driver (why it is showing up as "Microsoft HD Audio Device") only really provides basic functionality, you still need the actual driver for any advanced functionality if supported by the sound card.

Well I've installed the IDT driver and software but there's not that much in the control panel and nothing about bit rates.
Asio4all now says that the device is running in 32 bits

Hi sitarra right click on the loudspeaker symbol in the notification area, select playback devices, right click on your device, select properties, select advanced this is the only place in windows to change the bit rate
