Cannot change the default playback device

The default device is set as my speakers and I'd like to set it as my headphones. I've tried reinstalling the drivers multiple times (I'm using IDT, can I use something else or do I have to use these?), and various other tips I've seen, and it refuses to change.
I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and an HP Envy 14.
    Thanks

Odd, I've only experienced headphone jacks being ignored in ubuntu :/
Anyway, have you tried right clicking on the windows audio icon? One of the advanced options should be device selection.
