Experience with HT Omega Striker 7.1?

    Hey guys,

So - I just built a new computer and upgraded my sound card from the Creative Soundblaster to the HT Omega Striker 7.1. Im using Windows 7 64-bit and have downloaded the newest drivers (from Omega's website) for the card. However - so far I have concluded that (to my ears) the $24 dollar creative card sounds better then the HT Omega card...which is bizarre. This disappoints me because I was really hoping to get away from Creative after my experience with them on Windows 7 (on XP it was excellent). The drivers suck. And unless im mistaken, the drivers for the Striker card isnt working out so well either.

This sound is not crisp, its very muddy and a little heavy on the bass. Also, I have to hack it to make the audio come out of all the speakers. I have a 5.1 system. In order to make it come out of all five, I have to put the input channels as 2 and out as 6... And even then it still doesnt sound right. Definitley not as clear or crisp as my soundblaster card. For shame

Anyone have any experience with these cards on windows 7? and WTF is up with ASUS, Creative, and whoever else having so much problems with drivers for Windows 7? Its dumb.

I have a Striker 7.1 card, although I'm only using a 2.1 speaker system. I find the audio from mine very good, and on a par with the SoundBlaster Xfi card I previously had installed. I also use this PC for my computer based recording studio software (Sonar) and was having conflict problems caused by the ASIO drivers for the Xfi with Sonar. The Striker 7.1 does not have ASIO drivers and it eliminated the conflict problem in Sonar.

There are multiple EQ options for the card, try a different EQ option and see if that is better.

Here is the screen shot of what is available in the Striker control panel:
