Realtek doesn't show in Device Manager

    Hi guys,

I'm trying to get Realtek installed and i do manage to install it without getting a failure message or whatsoever. But the problem is that it does not work.

I installed and removed many codecs and versions of realtek, it just doesn't show in the device manager.

The only thing i see is High Definition Audio Device, and not Realtek.

How can i get realtek correctly installed??

    thanks in advance.

You didn't fill in the system spec's. Makes it hard to figure out what you have without it.

Generally the High Definition Audio Device is the sound module. Does the sound work, just that it's not showing "RealTek"? Did it ever work? If you upgraded from XP, you need Vista/Windows 7 specific drivers, the XP drivers usually are not compatible.

    Hi fireberd, thanks for replying.

I did manage to solve it, yes the sound did work, but i had no options like stereo mix, it took me so long to find out that the device i should 've installed is VIA and not Realtek. Now that i installed it from the manufacture's site, the stereomix option finally appears and it works fine. This is like a dream!!

One thing I must add for people who might face the same problem:
I did try to install VIA from the manufacture's site (asus in my case) earlier, and it didn't work. So I thought my audio device was Realtek which is not right.

I then read something about UAA codec, I downloaded that, then installed VIA and now stereomix works fine, and VIA Audio device is listed in device manager.

    hope this helps.

OK. Thanks for the feedback and what the problem was, and that it's resolved.
