Media Player 12 Freezes and cause computer not to respond.

    Hello,

A little about my computer, I have windows 7 64 bit., Asus MN68 motherboard, AMD Anthlon II X250 processor, Nvidia GE force 8400 GS graphics card, 2.0GB Ram, etc.

I use firefox for internet. We use Norton Anti-virus, CC cleaner, and spyware blaster. (everything is updated)

Next week, I will have had my computer for 1 yr.

About a week ago, I came in to find my computer restarted itself, it stated " Computer shut down unexpectedly, cause, Blue Screen "

Since this issue, I have noticed problems.

    • Media Player 12. While trying to rip a CD, the Media player freezes after about 10 seconds of the first rip. This causes everything to longer respond. Mouse, task manager, etc. I cannot do anything. When this happens with media player, I cant even open the task manager to shut the task off. A few times if I try to rip a CD the computer will actually shut off completely.
    • Media Player Freezes sometimes just when playing a CD
    • Pandora and Jango internet radio also mess up & freeze. Also when they freeze, once again I cannot do anything, no task bar nothing.

Seems that anything to do with music have problems. However can be something bigger than that.

    What I have done;

Does anyone have any advice or information?

I would greatly appreciate any help and guidance.

    Thank You,

    Steve

I don't see a reference to a dvd/cd unit in your System Specs.

    does the computer have one?

You can use Speccy (link in my sig) to gather info about your system.

    Steve,
    Thanks.

Until this problem is fixed, 100% remove the Nero software. Nero has been noted for problems with Microsoft software.

2nd, download, run, install CCleaner which is free. (link in my sig)

3rd. submit file generated by this procedure:
LIST OF STARTUP PROGRAMS USING CCLEANER

CCleaner | Tasks icon | Startup tab | click on Save to text file button (bottom right side)

Using the PAPER CLIP icon in the top panel of a Message Reply window, attach the .txt file generated by CCleaner.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4th, run the System File Checker. If it fails to tell you that it did not find any violations, then reboot and run System File Checker again. If it doesn't give you a clean bill of health this time, submit sfcdetails.txt (see the tutorial). Reboot.
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    5th.
Go to the FixIt Center and select the DVD/CD solutions.
