Can't access SndVol

My friend has a windows 7 64 bit HP laptop.
I installed this theme and ever since SndVol will not work. The volume works fine, i can manage to change the volume level through playback devices. But when i click tray icon for volume, nothing happens.
I tried to insert a XP disk and do
F: cd 1386 expand sndvol32.ex_ c:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe in CMD
It says:
"Expanding sndvol32.ex_ to c:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe."
"Can't open output file: c:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe"
When i try to open SndVol in system32 it says:
"Windows cannot access the specified device path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the items."
From there, i have no idea what to do. Help please. I will be grateful. Thanks.
