kjeimster, welcome to the Seven Forums.

In all likelihood what you're looking to do isn't possible as Windows 7 only allows for one default audio playback device at a time. Also the HDMI audio is likely integrated into whatever video card your computer has and is totally separate from the onboard audio which your headset and mic are connected to.

You should be able to use the mic as the default recording device regardless of which is the default playback, but if you want to use the headphones then you will have to set the onboard audio as the default playback device.

I like to hear the game sounds just through my speakers and just voice chat through my headset.

I use the onboard sound of my motherboard for the speakers and I bought a dirt cheap 10 pci soundcard to plug my headset into, that way I can separate the sounds exactly as I want to.

The same would work for you, you could use the hdmi from the graphics for sound to the tv then add a cheap soundcard for your headset, that's assuming you just want to use the headset to chat.

If you use programs such as xfire/skype etc then you can set the input/output devices accordingly.

Cheers

Paul.

Paul that is the only way to make that sort of thing to work; two audio devices and two programs with at least one of the programs having the option to use something other than the default playback device.

kjeimster will have to confirm but I get the impression that he is looking to have the same thing play on the TV and headset at the same time.

Yeah stormy, after posting a while ago I quickly edited my post to add "assuming you just want to use the headset to chat"

Audio can be a tricky thing at times, agreed he needs to confirm exactly what he wants from it.
