    Welome to the sevenforums! yuda6

You may have to go into the Control Panel>sound and run the test since you are not seeing any yellow marked items in the device manager. Generally the volume control found on the task manager as well as configuring Windows Media Player at first to be the default player will then play the default welcome sound when first booting up.

The volume is always down low where raising that up on the taskbar as well as the audio mixer for the software if any used will show if all is well. The support site sees Vista updates available that should work on 7 as well. Lenovo Support & downloads - Home page

The icon is missing on the first image there since the device(onboard sound) isn't installed. Once you have the correct drivers on you should see an icon similar for the audio device used there like you would expect to see for the expansion card used here. When that appears you can click on that to use the test button with the mixer no longer being greyed out.

The Lenovo support page will take you through the selection process to find the correct drivers. The link ickymay posted requires a membership before you can download anything from a quick glance.

The alternative is going through the MS update site by clicking the Windows updates option in the control panel. Generally when you first connect online or now with 7 are already connected the updates are downloaded during the installation for most Windows related items while the update scan will also see optional hardware and software updates.

Have you gone back into the control panel>sound section to see if the speakers item has appeared there? Another place would be a look in the device manager in the sound, video, and game controllers section to see if anything has yellow mark if not missing for the audio chip that model uses.
