Windows 7: Headphone audio quality is quite low.

Headphone audio quality is quite low.

Until recently the audio I got through use of headphones was rather good. Now however, the audio is of a low quality and sounds like it's echoing. I've changed headphones and still seem to have this problem. I've checked my settings through Sound's Playback Devices and the IDT Audio Control Panel and can't figure out what's going on and how to correct it. Please help?
