This is the first time I tried to record line-in audio on this computer. I'm running Windows 7 32 bit. I cannot record any audio through the line-in jack. In Windows sound settings the line-in option labeled "Soundmax Integrated Digital HD Audio" has a green check marked Default Device. But when I play the audio from the source device, I hear the audio through the pc speakers, but I cannot record the audio. I never had a problem recording audio through line-in on my old pc with XP. I've tried sound recorder built into Windows and also my vinyl software program "spin it again". Spin It Again can automatically detect and set the audio levels and it says it cannot detect any audio. And under the settings for that software I have line-in selected for input.
Does anybody know what is going on here? For some reason I'm hearing the audio I'm playing through the line-in jack through the pc speakers instead of it being recorded. Windows sound recorder just records a silent file.
EDIT: Just solved it myself - under "Line In Properties", under "levels", the sound was muted for some reason. Now it's working fine. Thanks anyways.
