Are your Geforce 9500 GT drivers up to date?
If so, go to the Nvidia software and see if there's a way to enable or disable hardware acceleration.

    DPC Latency Checker

Run the program in the link and let us know what it says - green bars, yellow or red.

You may want to run a defrag program like Download Auslogics Disk Defrag for free
Windows 7 will do it every Wednesday at 1:00 a.m., but not everyone has their PC on at that time.

Well you should run Analyze first.
If it says that you need to defrag, then you can do it when you like.
5 hours sounds like you have everything on one partition.
