problems with my ATI Radion HD 5450 no sound from head phones

I have my TV set up as the monitor and im using a Turtle Beach Z1 head set. The mic works fine but I can't seem to get sound to come threw the headset. Also I can't get windows 7 to pic them up as an audio device either.

If you are using HDMI then it is set as the default audio playback device and you won't get any audio from your PC's sound card. You can try to manually set the PC's sound card "speakers" as the default playback device, but when you do that you will lose any sound that is going to the TV.

Drivers for the onboard audio (or sound card) installed? If not it won't show up as speakers with the name of sound card showing like above, but show as "high definition audio device" if running on the Windows default audio driver.

It is also possible that your motherboard's bios has disabled the onboard when it detected the built in audio (bios sees it as a separate sound card) on the video card. If it is set to auto set it to enabled if available. If the only options are auto and disabled then unfortunately the only solution I know of is to use an actual sound card or to use USB headphones.
