Sound Card Driver Has a Dificult Time Installing I have a HT Omega Claro sound card that I've been having problems with. One issue that I have is after I uninstall the driver and try to reinstall it. It takes several attempts to install successfully.
Does this mean that the sound card is fualty? I'm not sure exactly how a driver works but i'm thinking it would try to comunicate with the hardware it's intended for and if there is a problem with the hardware that might cause the driver to have a dificult time installing.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks, | My System Specs |

I have an HT Omega Striker 7.1 sound card.
But regardless of the brand of sound card, if you uninstall a driver (actually a driver or program for anything) you need to restart the PC before reinstalling. If you don't restart before reinstalling, results can be iffy (and if there was a problem, the problem may still be there).
If you are having problems with the HT sound card, contact their support. I've had good response from them. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7

No question HT Omega has superior customer service and I am in contact with them. I would recomend HT Omega's line of sound cards to anyone hands down.
I do uninstall the driver and restart the machine. It's when I try and install the driver again when i have the problem. It takes an extraordinary amount of time to install and makes everythng run super slow. I usually do a Ctrl-Alt-Del and kill the process and then try and restart the machine. But it wont restart it just hangs in the shut down process. I have to hold the power buttone down for five seconds to do a reboot. When it does install, it takes a few seconds.

I wonder if the sound card or drivers is the problem, it could be there is another problem that makes it look like the sound driver reinstall is the problem. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7

One other thought on the sound card/ drivers. The motherboard probably has an integrated audio and since you are using a separate sound card, the on-board needs to be disabled in the BIOS to prevent conflicts with the Claro sound card. This is one item to check/start with. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7

Yes, the onboard audio is disabled in the BIOS.
My issue is I'm not sure how to troubleshoot what exactly the problem is. I've tried everything I can think of. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Intel i7 920 (stock) Motherboard Asus P6X58D Premium Memory OCZ 2G X 3 OCZ3G1600LV6GK Graphics Card Sapphire HD5970 Sound Card HT Omega Claro Monitor(s) Displays LG LCD 23" W2353V-PF PSU OCZ OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Cooler Master RC-932-KKN1-GP Cooling Thermalright Veneomous-X CPU Heatsink Hard Drives WD Velociraptor WD3000HLHX

I would look at what else is running in the startup and what is showing in the lower right of the task bar. Some antivirus programs can also interfere with installing drivers or programs and many say to disable any antivirus before installing.
I have Microsoft Security Essentials and it has not caused any install problems. I have had problems with both McAfee and Norton (and one reason I dumped them). | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number My Own Build OS Windows 7, 64 bit Home SP1, Win 8 Pro 64 bit CPU Intel i7 3770 Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 16GB GSkill Ripsaw F3-14900CL9Q-16GBXL Graphics Card Sapphire HD7770 Sound Card RealTek Monitor(s) Displays Viewsonic VA2448 Series 24" LED Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Kensington wired Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU Antec High Current Gamer HCG-620M Modular Case Coolermaster HAF XM Cooling Corsair H80 Liquid cooling with aftermarket Nexus quiet fans Hard Drives 240GB Intel 520 SSD for Win 7
