Audio devices undetected. Headphones or Speakers give no sound

Hi,
I recently went into my computer to install a Corsair H80 Water pump for the GPU. Anyhow, after i connected all the cables and turned on the computer again i did not have any sound. Even though im not an expert with computers, i'm pretty sure all the cables are connected right (but there is always a possibility i screwed up there).
I do have sound devices, that is not the issue. After the first pc boot i had the Realtek digital output (realtek high definition audio) as the sound device. I went into the control panel and pressed sound. The previous audio device (that i had and was working) was there, but stated as "Not plugged in".
So, my computer does not detect or react as i connect any headsets nor speakers. I also checked the audio in the mixer to see that it "plays sound" which i can confirm.
I have searched the web for people with the same issues and tried a few "solutions" but none of them worked for me.
They were:
1. Uninstall and reinstalling the drivers
2. Making sure i got the latest versions of the drivers
3. Turning on the front jack panel in the Realtek HD Audio Manager, which resulted with the speakers apparing to be connected and works according to the computer but still no sound.
4. Tried different speakers and headphones.

So my question is, do you guys have any idea what to do? I have been sitting on this problem for quite a while now.

After trying several things im starting to believe it might be me who failed at connecting the computer. But if so i have no idea how to fix it, as it does not matter if i connect the audio cable instead of the HD audio cable or if i leave them unconnected.

Anyhow: My os is Windows 7 Ultimate
I got an Intel motherbord DX58SO
and my sound device/card is Realtek high definition audio? :S

Good luck solving this puzzle because it's sure giving me an headache.

(I also recently deleted my hard drive and reinstalled windows, if that matters)

I will try to replug the whole computer once more, but from my perspective the cables seems to be in place at the moment.
But to answear your questions:
The status of the realtek in the device manager is perfect. It says everything is working and there is no error.
Audio have not worked after reinstalling, but nor did it work a couple of the days before ( which was one of the reasons i reinstalled to check if it helped).
I cannot set my speakers as default audio playback device as it says they are not connected.

But unless you have any other ideas i will try to replugg it as soon as i get time and post the results here.

But anyhow, now i have reconnected the computer twice. With no result.
Also i went on a raid from store to store looking for a Convertor
but it seems like this dont exist? or i just described it wrong...
Anyhow would this be a temporary solution to my problem and work if it was so that my internal sound card is broken

Tried Linux, sound still not working. So i suppose the sound card is broken, thats the only reasonbly explanation is it not?

Also would a "TerraTec SoundSystem Aureon Dual USB" give me sound even thou my card is broken, considering it is USB and works as a eksternal soundcard?

Yes, i've been into bios multiple times where i have disabled on-board audo and then re-enabled it after seeing it makes no effect. I've tried to disable hd audio, and i also updated my bios to the latest version to see if this would increase my options regarding audio, but no help there.
I'm just assuming my sound is dead, and i have to buy a new card. Does'nt that sound right? and the reason is most likely because i didnt wear one of those bands making me, forgot the word but so that i dont send electric circuits?
