Sound -> Recording -> Stereo Mix -> Listen to this device, causes echo

Hi All,

I am trying to record a video with sound using Windows 7 Enterprise (Windows version 6.1 build 7600).

I have been told that, in order to capture the audio, I need to goto Sound -> Recording -> Stereo Mix -> Listen, and temporarily select "Listen to this device".

However, when I do this the sound is echoing, and the echo is being recorded in the video?

Please can you advise how I can remove the echoing. Or is there a better way to record with sound?

Thank you for your time and help,
Best regards,
James
