No internal microphone after Windows 7 reinstall

I have an ASUS G71? and had several issues with BSOD. I reinstalled Windows 7 ulitmate and now there is no internal microphone showing up. i went to Asus site for drivers and tried to get the audio driver but when I try to run the setup application after download, it says: "the version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you are running. Check your computer information system to see if you need an 86x (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit) version of the program and then contact the publisher."
system is 64, but still I tried the 32 bit version from Asus and got the same error. Not sure what to do...please help!
