    Try this...

    Hi,

I also have the Dell E5520 and had the same problem, please also check that your webcam is working. The microphone is located next to the webcam and both devices were not working on my laptop. To fix it I have to remove the plastic surround to the screen and unplug the connector next to the webcam, and then plug it back it. Windows then recognizes the webcam and the microphone. I have to do this 3 or 4 times a week.

Sometimes just removing the surround does the job, it's clearly a problem with wiring/connector that is causing the problem.

    Hi,

I can confirm the DELL Latitude E5520 has well integrated microphone.
Just got the same problem with Skype and used the drivers available for download from DELL website:

Google the name of the driver and you should easily get it.
    IDT_92HDXXX-HD-AUDIO_A03_R297613.exe

    INstall software.
Then go to your peripheral manager.
Click on the audio controler and choose the "update drivers", then point to the directory created by the executable.

    C:\dell\drivers

    Hope it helps.

    Chris.

    Hi derose!

I'm reading your last post from a while ago about you installing the new driver for the microphone. I tried exactly this but when i try to install it it tells me that my system does not support this software. This makes no sense to me.

    Do you have any advice?
I have a dell latitude e5520 and my skype also tells me i have no microphone.

    Thanks!!!!
