I am using a Dell Latitude E5520 laptop but the laptop doesn't recognise that it has internal microphones!!
I've googled the problem and have downloaded drivers from Rwealtek etc but to no avail.
I've included a screenshot of the recording devices tab which only shows unplugged microphones.
I know you have said that you have tried it, now please give it one more chance and if it fails to work we will dig deeper to try to solve the problem. Realtek
After accpeting the terms you need to download the first driver from any of the 3 servers on the right.
I've re-loaded the Realtek audio drivers and nothing has changed I'm afraid, might have to accept that the built in microphones aren't going to work after all.
issy1, just reinstall the audio driver and it might work. I've experienced the same problem and after I've installed the latest audio driver from DELL website, it worked.
microsoft has a fix it file for win 7 audio and sound recorder you might try that and my external mic wouldnt recorde anything either I found voice recognition in control panel and turned it on and wala my mic now works on sound recorder and my roxio narator

I can confirm the DELL Latitude E5520 has well integrated microphone.
Just got the same problem with Skype and used the drivers available for download from DELL website:
Google the name of the driver and you should easily get it.
IDT_92HDXXX-HD-AUDIO_A03_R297613.exe
INstall software.
Then go to your peripheral manager.
Click on the audio controler and choose the "update drivers", then point to the directory created by the executable.
