is it possible? Keeping sound on in sleep mode?

Hello i have a windows 7 pc with the a sound card capable of listening to line in sound. i currently have my att uverse box connected to my pc and my pc connected to my stereo system this way i can play my sound through both systems. While i am sure that there a is hardware specifically designed for channeling sound in this way i'm lazy and don't feel like buying them. My only problem is that i have to keep my pc on at all times for the tv sound to remain on. I was wondering if theres a way to keep audio on in sleep mode/away mode that way my computer would remain in a low power state and i would still be able to hear audio on tv.

ATT BOX ==audio== PC line in====PC line out====Stereo

btw the reason i did this is because i don't have a tv and have two monitors so one monitor is on a dvi switch.

No, that's not possible. The audio doesn't just simply go in and back out - it's actually put through the chip on the soundcard, i.e. digitized, mixed with any other sounds, then turned back into an analog signal before being put out.

Obviously, none of that happens when the system is asleep.

You might simply get an Y-cable which takes the outputs from your PC and the U-Verse box and combines them into one signal for your stereo system. That way either sound source can be heard independently from the other one (but also together).

    Don't be lazy.
