Bad sound quality, have realtek drivers installed.

    Hi all,

I recently reinstalled Windows 7 on my laptop and since then the osund quality has been truly awful.

The specs are listed below, but I have un- and reinstalled the latest realtek drivers. The laptop was new when I wiped it so I don't know if the speakers are just terrible but it's a new laptop, so I assume that's not the problem.

    Any help welcome!

    Thanks,
    StubbyHS

I would have very low expectations for sound quality on an Acer laptop.

Having said that, where did you get the Realtek drivers?

If you got them from Realtek, instead go to Acer and look for drivers for your particular motherboard.

    And vice versa.

Normally, I would expect the laptop manufacturer's audio drivers to have a better chance of working.

Oh sorry I forgot to include that I had installed drivers from both sources. Nada.

I have as well, but this is worse than the speakers on my 2002 laptop!

It's not going to be that bad is it?

I previously had a Acer Laptop with excellent sound. My new laptop suddenly has bad sound quality, although it also has Realtek High Definition Sound. So it has nothing to do with "Acer is cheap" or whatever, rather with them you can be sure the multimedia quality is satisfying.... (I don't use speakers though, but good headphones.)
