I've got the same problem, I'm really sick of using speakerfill. Everything works fine on XP...
The sound test works, I get full surround. But nothing actually plays out of the speakers in surround. I also have this problem with Vista.
So many realtek updates and they can't seem to fix this...

I don't know what I've done differently then anyone else here, but my HP SlimLine 3023 is working great with Realtek Driver Version 6.0.1.5502 using Digital s/pdf out to my Home Theater Amp. Driver was installed by Microsoft Update, and I'm running Winsows 7 RC build 7100 x86. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built OS Windows 7 Rc Build 7264 x86, Ubuntu CPU Intel Q8200 Quad Core Motherboard Asus P5QL Memory 2 Gb Graphics Card nVidia 8400GS Sound Card Stock Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays Hp 2207h and LG 42in LCD Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050, 1360 x 768 Keyboard Microsoft Wireless Mouse Microsoft Wireless PSU Corsair 550W Case Thermaltake DH 102 Cooling Unmodified Hard Drives 250 Gb seagate internal, (2) Western Digital 1 Tb external Internet Speed Time Warner - 15mb\s Other Info 4 ATI Digital Cable Tuners, 1 XBox 360, Life|Ware home automation,Yamaha RX-V765, Harmony 1000 Remote |

Do you think realtek even knows about this? Maybe I'll contact tech support or something... | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 CPU Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Memory OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Graphics Card SAPPHIRE 100259L Radeon HD 4870 Monitor(s) Displays Acer X233Hbid Black 23" 5ms HDMI Full 1080P Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 PSU PC&Power Cooling 750 Case Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Hard Drives Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS 500GB |

Well, both of my outputs work great. As a matter of fact, I am able to have 2 different audio streams playing at the same time. One through my s\pdf (Movies, music whatever) and a totaly differnet stream through my analog jack. As far as I knew, this was an impossibility, but its happening right now as I type this.
I right clicked on my Speaker icon in the system tray
Selected volume control options
Checked both boxes (Speakers and s/pdf)
Checked Ok

According to Device Manager, Version 6.0.1.5502, Downloaded through Windows update.
As I said, Maybe I've been lucky, but ever since I've installed RC 7100, everything has just "Worked". . . .
Up until yesterday . . . replaced my HTPC case with a Thermaltake unit with a 7in touch screen, and Windows 7 didnt like that, so I had to rollback to Vista Home Premium. I know. . . but I do have a little thing called the Wife Approval Factor. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built OS Windows 7 Rc Build 7264 x86, Ubuntu CPU Intel Q8200 Quad Core Motherboard Asus P5QL Memory 2 Gb Graphics Card nVidia 8400GS Sound Card Stock Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays Hp 2207h and LG 42in LCD Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050, 1360 x 768 Keyboard Microsoft Wireless Mouse Microsoft Wireless PSU Corsair 550W Case Thermaltake DH 102 Cooling Unmodified Hard Drives 250 Gb seagate internal, (2) Western Digital 1 Tb external Internet Speed Time Warner - 15mb\s Other Info 4 ATI Digital Cable Tuners, 1 XBox 360, Life|Ware home automation,Yamaha RX-V765, Harmony 1000 Remote |
