Need sound to come out through 2 devices at the same time

    Hello,
I need sound to come out through my hdmi AND the headphone jack at the same time.
Under playback devices I have AMD HDMI sound and Realtek High Definition audio. Both devices work when I check them - just cant get them both to work at the same time?? Help!

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Generally speaking, connecting headphones to the front sound port will cut off the sound output from the rear sound port.

A simple way round your problem would be to connect a 3.5mm stereo plug to 2 phono sockets adapter to your rear sound port enabling you to use your speakers and headphones at the same time.

The headphone jack, which is on the rear, is connected to my computer speakers - the hdmi is connected to stereo - need both to play at the same time

    Hi Ambiente!

Just curious what the reason for both used at once is meant to accomplish. If I may ask?

They probably want TV sound (via HDMI) and to have PC sound both. Can't do it as you can only have one default playback device, either have the HDMI sound or the PC "Speakers".

rubyrubyroo, you and I are close.

@ Fireberd - I know, but I still check out reasoning , it sometimes helps, under certain circumstances..... BTW are you using Pro Tools or Sonar Fireberd?

I'm using Sonar X1c but I recently bought Pro Tools MP9 at the GC on Hillsborough and working on learning it.

@fireberg - say, for the sake of argument, that the OP wants to do what you mentioned, BUT it's only when asked for more info that you learn their Graphics card has a unused DVI interface, and they were using the factory stereo internal speakers on the TV, not realizing that they could simply pull the HD vid thru a DVI-to-HDMI cord and enjoy the same stereo sound from a rear 1/8" phono stereo jack out and a similar male-to-male 1/8" (3.5mm) phono cord, assuming there is a 1/8" phono audio in option on the HDTV as most have. most audio cards will allow the front jacks to be bussed separately, from the rears by a mere checkbox, and you would only need one device (i guess its technically 2 but it allows it, front=headphones device, rear=speakers device). Tweak a few sliders pots in the appropriate device audio tabs so the sound is routed correctly and job done. Even easier if the purpose was to play the same sound through both the speakers and the headphones, because say...i dunno someone is has a hard time hearing the TV, or likes to use a headphone unit with a built in volume control potentiometer, because the TV's too loud for them usually! same setup , just not onscreen slider tweaking! easy-peasy. right?!......:)

I'm sure I'll be wrong but, hey, I heard "impossible" a few posts up and became intrigued enough to ask "why" at least!

    Sincerely,
    Mike

so ambiente, can you explain what you want to do exactly, and remember i cant see your house, so you need to answer questions as if I dont know what you have as far as equipment or whats in your mind.

    Sincerely,
    Mike
