You mean Toshiba's website?
You mean Toshiba's website?
I am having an impossible time finding the appropriate software to download. I am also still unclear which programs I am supposed to uninstall. "high Definition Audio Device" "NVIDIA High DEfinition Audio" can both be uninstalled from device manager. From "uninstall a program" I can uninstall "Conexant HD Audio", "NVIDIA Drivers", "NVIDIA PhysX".
Again, I can't find anywhere to download these again once I uninstall. I am searching the toshiba website. If someone can clarify what I am supposed to uninstall and where I can download it to reinstall I would appreciate it. All I can find are the drivers on Toshiba's site.

okay, don't "uninstall" anything. We need to get you the right driver and install it, the installer and windows will take care of the rest. Let me look for the driver for you and see what I can turn up.

does your computer's model number have more alphanumeric characters Qosmio X505-?????
it should strat with a Q or SP and then have numbers most likely. It should be on the bottom on a sticker.

and maybe make sure the label isn't smudged and looked wrong Qosmio X505-Q8??? maybe?
theres a x505-q890
and a x505-q930
And a x505-q880

Ya, I am dyslexic I guess. Q890. Its less than a year old. Very sorry and I appreciate all this help! I need to get this sorted out. Thanks again!!
Also, the headphones are back on the list, though again, no sound from them.
Hello again Cruxone,
Now that I read through the entire thread, I believe I have a better understanding the source of your confusion. I think that you simply uninstalled and reinstalled the Audio Driver on your system, rather than install an Audio Driver you located at Toshiba's Site. This should be our first and most likely successful attempt to fix your problem. I went ahead and located the most up-to-date version for your model. Here is what you need to do:
- Please click on the following link to Toshiba's website, containing the drivers for your specific system: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/t...lFamily=804517
- In the list, the fourth item from the top should have the "Title" Conexant Audio Driver(...version.#...). Click on that blue Link.
- When a new screen appears It should similarly say, "Conexant Audio Driver" at the top with a green arrow, look down the screen after a little bit of text there should be a Big Red Button with the caption: "Download Now". You can simply left click it once and it should, depending on which Internet browser you are using, prompt you with a choice. Try to locate "save as.." if possible or the closest your browser has to this command. In Internet Explorer 9, the "Save" button should have an arrow on the right side, click that and a menu will appear with "Save As..." as an option. Please click this option and save the file in a location that you will know where to locate it (You could place it on the desktop if you like).
- Once the download is complete, you may leave the browser and locate the file. It should be named "tc70094400a.exe", unless you changed the name. Please run the file by double clicking on it's icon.
- Now you will need to follow the directions as provided in the software, (it is a self extracting zip file with the extension exe, so you will not have to unzip it yourself.) Confirm the installation steps, and agree to the EULA. it should finally begin installation at some point.
- When it completes you must "Restart" your computer, whether it asks you to or not!
- When you return to windows, there may be a slight delay noticed, or rarely a "Installation Complete" message appears. Try your audio first before going to the Audio Properties area. If there is no improvement, then return to the Audio window and make sure it appears set up correctly (the green check mark on the "speakers" device, and so forth...), then check it again, as well as the headphones. Note: I would test the headphones only after the speakers are tested, as their unusual activities may mean that the jack is the source of the problem, but it is unclear.
- Also remember to check the speaker icon at the right of the taskbar to see if it has a red "X" or not and if you hover over it if it says anything about the device not being available or a similar message.
- Make sure the keyboard's "volume buttons" are checked and that "Mute" is not Enabled!
- At this point, please return to Seven Forums and let me know how this affected the state of your system's audio problem.
(If you have any problems or are unclear of anything just let me know.)
Don't forget to let me know if it fixes the problem!
(and add that "-Q890" to your System Specs model#)
Good Luck,
Mike :)
Very nice instructional Mike
I think the OP needs the step by step instruction. There is no
shame in that for sure, up until 3 years ago I didn't even know
what a driver was and was terrified of playing with them.
Gotta be honest they still confuse me a bit now.
Good help mate
