Windows 7 - Unable to record using microphone, not a hardware problem

Hello forum.

I have a pretty crappy problem hopefully someone here can help me fix.
I just bought a brand new computer and got it all set up and ready to go, but my microphone will not record sound at all. I thought at first this was an outdated driver, so I checked and found out that yes, I did not update the drivers (whoops).

Problem is, the issue still remains. I can hear out of my headphones, but with my mic I cannot create any sound other than by blowing into the mic with the boost up to +30.

I checked my mic on my mothers laptop and it works perfectly fine so I know its not an issue with the actual device itself.


I can provide spec, photos or whatnot in order for someone to help me. =D
