Problem about playing sounds in my headphones only

The situation is, I want to put a CD in my computer and play Halo Wars' soundtrack while playing some StarCraft 2. Of course, not to bother anyone, I plug my headphones. The problem occurs once I enter the game. Everything goes well until that moment, everything is playing in my headphones and suddenly, booms, the speakers of my computer starts playing everything and I don't seem to be good enough with the volume mixer to be able to make it all go into the headphones. Thanks for help.

Canada, welcome to Sevenforums!

Wow, this is very very strange. If I assume your are playing the audio cd in the drive, and starcraft is loaded on your computer without needing a CD, am I assuming correctly? That is a lot of music, do you have Starcraft music disabled?

Without knowing very much about your computer, you might simply look for a place on your speakers to plug headphones in and use your speakers (speakers>headphones) as your only audio output. Or you might consider unplugging the speakers and plugging in the headphones.

Any other function would have to be through software. So you would have to look up your audio device's software (and windows standard audio controls) and change any other settings through them. Make sure your audio driver is up to date.

Yes, you are assuming right! But for the speakers, they are integrated(part of) to the computer! How would I ''unplug'' them, then? As for the driver's updates, it is done: its up to date!

even stranger. So you plug your headphones directly into the computer and it just bypasses them... I might recommend looking for your audio control panel and looking for any setting that says something like "when headphones plugged in, mute speakers"... can't think of the right phrase but I might have to help you further later, I'm on an xp computer at the moment

EDIT** ah, found it. Look for these types of phrases:
