Windows Default Sounds

My Windows does not play any default sounds when logging or when some errors occur. I don't know why, my speakers' aren't on mute, and they are working fine. It's just that windows does not play it's own sounds.

I can play music, but windows does not play it's own sounds. What will I do? :O

It didn't work. I can play some mp3 and other files. But the default files and bundles of windows sounds can't be played. The login sound, error sound, logoff, etc.

open regedit, navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents key.

Rt click it and select Export.

That way you get a .reg file.

Before you do that, rt click the little speaker icon in the notification area, select Sounds and see what sound scheme is selected.

Are you able to preview any of the Windows sounds while in the Sounds control panel (for your currently active sound scheme)? Do they play then?

No, I can't preview them.
But they play.

They play when I play them in WMP.

They are standard WAV files, right? MP3 or similar wouldn't work...

Media Center default menu sounds
Hi All- I like the "TIVO" menu sounds and have found them on the web. They are in ".wav" format. Is there a method to installing these sound files in Media Center 7 and also coordinate them as in "TIVO" I apologize in advance if this has been covered in this forum. I have performed an exhaustive...

No Windows Sounds, but regular sounds play fine
Ok so I have a simple, but annoying problem. I have no Windows Sound Events like the login sound, the logout sound, and when the battery is low. Every other sound like playing music and running YouTube videos work fine. Even when I turn on my laptop I hear the whole computer startup sound, but I...

Windows 7 sounds
It used to be an easy task to change the start up and shut down wav sounds, why not anymore? I've run all the same steps I would have on most all other Win Os's, I don't see the option to change the start up wav. Curious though, you do have the choice of shutting off the start up sound with the...

No sounds at all in Windows 7
All: For some strange reason, no sounds (system or otherwise) occur when I turn on my Windows 7 HP-PC. After I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7, everything seemed fine; but now, there are no sounds. It's a dual boot PC; so, my speakers work with Linux. I have tried every suggestion I have...

Sounds will not play when not set to default ones
When I change a few system event sounds, such as Logon and Logoff soundswith two particular files, NOT default Windows sounds, and "test" they won't play, but if I set them back to default or any other .wav file in the drop-down list, those all work. I might note, that I made this change and did...
